Jamil Muasher M.D.
Jamil Muasher is a University of Virginia trained radiologist with dual board certification in Interventional and Diagnostic Radiology, who has made prostate imaging a core part of his practice over the past several years. He is the first physician in the Central Coast to develop and offer MRI/ultrasound fusion biopsy of the prostate utilizing the Phillips PercuNav system, which allow for far more accurate diagnosis of prostate cancer and more personalized treatment decisions. He has served the Ventura and Santa Barbara communities since 2012 and is a member of Pueblo Radiology Medical Group. Originally from Virginia, Dr. Muasher has settled in Santa Barbara with his wife and two young children.
Benjamin Johnson M.D.
Benjamin Johnson is a Stanford University trained radiologist who received additional fellowship training at breast imaging while at Stanford, and subsequently fellowship training in joint and spine imaging with National Orthopedic Imaging Associates. More recently, he has focused a significant portion of his radiology practice on prostate cancer imaging and diagnosis, working with Dr. Muasher to offer MRI fusion ultrasound guided prostate biopsy services initially in Ventura, and now also at Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital where he serves as the Radiology Department medical director as a member of Pueblo Radiology Medical Group. A former high school teacher with a Masters Degree in Education, Dr. Johnson practices medicine in concert with his patients, providing them with knowledge and guidance that allows them to make appropriate individualized medical decisions. Originally from West Virginia, Dr. Johnson has settled in Santa Barbara with his wife, an Ear Nose and Throat Surgeon, and their two young children.
Duke Bahn M.D.
Internationally recognized as one of the world’s leading practitioners in the study and treatment of prostate cancer, Dr. Duke K. Bahn is currently the Director of the Prostate Institute of America at Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura California. His special areas of interest are the early detection and staging of prostate cancer using color-Doppler ultrasound with tissue harmonics. He is also a pioneer in using cryotherapy, as both a primary and salvage treatment for prostate cancer. Certified by the American Board of Radiology, Dr. Bahn spent more than twenty years in the research and development of cryoablation procedure for an effective prostate cancer treatment. His published data was the impetus for obtaining Medicare approval for cryotherapy as a viable primary treatment for prostate cancer.
Lately, he brought a concept of “Male Lumpectomy” in the prostate cancer treatment and standardizes the focal cryoablation technique that is freezing the cancerous portion of the prostate only as an outpatient, minimally invasive procedure. His latest task of cryoimmunotherapy clinical trial has FDA approval and being studied.
Dr. Bahn has held many academic and professional appointments including clinical professor of urology, Keck school of medicine, University of Southern California. He has published many scientific articles relating to the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer. He has been elected as “America’s Top Doctors” and “America’s Top Cancer Doctors”. He actively promotes prostate cancer education and patient empowerment through his extensive speaking appearances with both patient support groups and medical communities throughout the world.

Maria Mendez has worked in the medical field for more than 20 years. She has expanded her knowledge in the medical field working several places including Neurosurgery, Neurology, Cardiology, Breast Center, Radiology Department and the Prostate Center. Maris is bilingual, she speaks, writes and read both in English and Spanish. Maria is a mother of a wonderful, loving son and a grandmother of two handsome boys. She enjoys outdoor activities like bike riding, hiking, long walks by the beach, but most of all, spending time with her grandkids. Maria is passionate about helping those in need and strives to treat her patients with compassion, professionalism and respect. Working in the medical field for many years has taught her so much, but more importantly, is where Maria found her passion.
We welcomed Eva Adriana Herring to our team here at the Prostate Institute June 2021.
Eva Adriana Herring lived most of her childhood in Venezuela, however, when the opportunity arose her family moved to the state of Utah and lived there for the past 26 years. Eva is currently living in Ventura County by the beach with her 2 sons. Eva’s professional background has been Administrative Assistant for 7 years including a School Distract in Utah. Eva enjoys physical and outdoor activities and loves living close to the ocean. Eva is bilingual both in English and in Spanish. She has demonstrated to be a hard worker and committed to provide professional customer service to all of our patients. Eva is friendly with an outgoing personality and willing to expand her knowledge within the medical field.
