Active Surveillance
We see a large number of patients who have a diagnosis of prostate cancer (both diagnosed at our clinic and elsewhere) who have opted for Active Surveillance. This is an often under-utilized approach for non-aggressive prostate cancers which may never develop lethal potential. It involves periodic PSA testing, yearly prostate ultrasound, and occasionally MRI. Active surveillance allows men with low risk cancers to forgo the potential side effects of invasive therapies while knowing that they are not putting their health at risk by doing so.
