Benign Prostate Hypertrophy
As men age, the prostate enlarges, a process known as Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia or BPH. The rate and degree in which the prostate enlarges is different for each man, with both genetic and biochemical factors playing a role in the process.
This benign enlargement can lead to symptoms of urinary dysfunction and frequency, in addition to other less common symptoms such as pelvic discomfort and blood in the urine.
We offer highly accurate measurement of prostate size over time, which helps patients understand the cause of such symptoms and how their symptoms may change in the future.
In addition we use this imaging data to offer medical therapy when appropriate, as well as counseling on more invasive treatments when medical therapy has failed to adequately control symptoms.
If you are struggling with BPH symptoms, we would be happy to see you in consultation with a goal of tailoring a diagnostic and treatment plan that meets your goals.
